FAQ

Answers to the questions patients ask most often before their first appointment.
What to expect at the first appointment?
Your first appointment is an initial psychiatric evaluation. It’s a chance to talk through what’s happening. Dr. Hamid will ask questions about your current concerns, health history, sleep, mood, and anxiety. Medication is not forced; treatment decisions are always collaborative.
While Dr. Hamid incorporates supportive therapy and lifestyle coaching into visits, her primary focus is psychiatric diagnosis and medication management. If you need regular talk therapy, we can provide referrals and will collaborate with your therapist to ensure comprehensive care.
Currently, all appointments are conducted virtually via secure telepsychiatry, allowing us to serve patients anywhere in the state of Florida from the comfort of their homes.
Choose a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable speaking openly. Ensure you have a reliable internet connection and a device with a camera (computer, tablet, or phone). Have your current medication list and pharmacy information handy. Log in a few minutes early to test your connection.
Not necessarily. The first appointment is focused on understanding your history and symptoms. If medication is recommended, Dr. Hamid will explain the reasoning, expected benefits, possible side effects, and timeline. You will never feel rushed into a decision. Treatment is collaborative, and your comfort level always matters.

We are currently a self-pay practice. We can provide a superbill (itemized receipt) that you may submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan. Contact us or check with your insurance provider to understand your out-of-network benefits.
Follow-up frequency depends on your individual needs and treatment plan. Initially, appointments are often more frequent to allow for evaluation and careful medication adjustments if applicable. Over time, many patients transition to less frequent check-ins as they stabilize and feel more empowered in their mental health journey.
